Privacy Notice

DRAFT — NOT YET REVIEWED BY COUNSEL. This notice describes what the VinoSwipe contributor programme actually collects and why. It is accurate as to the system’s behaviour, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer and must be before the programme opens to the public.

Who we are

VinoSwipe operates this contributor programme. Contact us at the address on our Contact page for anything in this notice.

What we collect

Your account. Your email address and a password, held by our authentication provider. We never see your password.

Your profile. A display name and the town or city you give us. Both optional.

Age confirmation. We ask your date of birth to check you are old enough. We do not store your date of birth — only whether you passed the check.

Your contributions. Photographs you take, the shelf prices and stores you record, and any tasting notes and ratings you leave.

Your consent record. Which version of the Terms you accepted, when, which boxes you ticked, and your browser’s user-agent string.

What we deliberately do not collect. We do not log your IP address for location, and we do not track your location in the background. The store you record is the location. Photographs are stripped of embedded metadata, including GPS coordinates, when you upload them.

Why we collect it

To run your account, to build a wine catalogue, and to develop recommendations. Your consent record exists so that both of us can tell what you agreed to and when.

Who can see your contributions

Your tasting notes and ratings are private to you and the VinoSwipe team. Other contributors cannot read them. Ratings feed into published averages only once a wine has at least three of them, so a single verdict is never readable as one person’s opinion.

Photographs are stored privately and served through short-lived links.

Where it is stored

With Supabase, our database and authentication provider, on servers in the United States.

How long we keep it

Your account details for as long as your account is open. If you close it, we delete or de-identify your personal information — but the contributions themselves are kept in a form no longer connected to you, under the licence in the Contributor Terms. Your consent record is retained as evidence that the licence was granted.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, correct it, or close your account. There is an export button in your cellar that gives you your own contributions at any time. Depending where you live you may have further rights, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act.

Changes

If this notice changes materially we will update the date above and, where the change affects what you agreed to, ask you to agree again.
